Packet Nodes in West Texas

In a long keyboard QSO with W5EBS I found the following information:

A good path exists from the BUCK node to the Midland/Odessa and Lubbock areas.

First connect to BUCK node.

Issue a C DARKCN command to connect to a KA node at Dark Canyon, near Carlsbad.

Issue a C NOTREE command to connect to an X1J4 node at Notrees.

From NOTREE you have several node connections available.

C ODESSA gets you to a dual band KA node at Odessa, Texas with a port on 40 meters.

XC WA5ETK will connect via 40 meters to a station in Amarillo, Texas if the HF conditions are right.

From NOTREE you can connect to the following nodes:

LBB01 (may require an intermediate node connection to get there)
CROSBY
IDALOU
ANTON
PLVW2 (Plainview, TX)
RAMAR

Some of these nodes were installed in the last couple of years to enhance emergency communication capabilitiesin the West Texas area.  These nodes are also available on a daily basis for normal packet communications.
