Hey everyone,
KE5OIE (Justin) here and I'm trying to put together a small group of Search & Rescue people that are interested in getting their Technician's License. As of last night, I have 4 names on my list, and will hopefully get more.
I was wondering if SBARC would start thinking about holding another class sometime soon?
By the way, I came across this posting from W5ZIT (which was from KB6NU), and it makes a lot of sense to me, as long as the students put in the energy to do some pre-study:
http://sbarcnm.org/forum/index.php?topic=116.0In my case, I took a one-day HAM class (taught by NM5BB) and successfully aced the exam the next day, so I am living proof that it can be done.

NM5BB did a very good job at discussing the relevant material without going off on rabbit trails, which is critical in a one-day class.
Maybe a variation of a one-day class could be done? For example, cover all the material on one Saturday, give people a week to take on-line practice exams, and then have another all-day class the following Saturday, and then the examination a few days later? Just a thought...
Finally, at our SAR meeting last night, we announced the topic that Rick will discuss at the next SBARC meeting. I am hopeful that a number of SAR people will show up to the meeting on Thursday night.
Regards,
Justin
