Bruce McKensie KK5XZ passed away this afternoon. He went to the hospital earlier. Joe Kenmore found out a short while ago, so the Masonic Lodge knows but not to many hams know at this time.
His son David in AZ has been notified and should arrive here Monday, no other details are known at this time

Bruce was a longtime member of the club and a regular at the Saturday breakfast gathering. For nearly 2 years he served as our friendly net control station for the club's Wednesday night VHF net. More often than not he would monitor the club repeater and converse with anyone who identified, whether visitor, newcomer, or old timer. As a former Air Force linguist, he got a big kick out of speaking Russian to a very surprised UA station who appeared on EchoLink one day on the 146.98 repeater. Despite being somewhat mobility impaired in later years, he was always a reliable volunteer to provide communications support during emergency activations, such as the July 2008 floods in Ruidoso.
We will miss you greatly, Bruce.

Just got back (to Chicago) from Canada and heard about Bruce. Very sorry to hear of his passing, especially in light of his ongoing dealings with the feds re:his wife's visa. He truly will be missed. RIP Bruce.
